ASSISTANT DirectoRS Report

With Mick “Swoop” Luke

Hi all!  I am sure I just wrote the last monthly newsletter item and suddenly Sue is knocking on our doors again. [Heh heh. Be afraid. Be very afraid. . .  Ed] Good to see more people turning out to our rides and get togethers.

NT rally went very well; everyone that attended had a great time and those that missed out, well you missed out on a great weekend. The National Rally is now only eight weeks away with a good turn-out of our members going. It will be a memorable couple of weeks: socialising, riding and having a blast around the Adelaide Hills, well for some anyway (Hoot’n), but remember where there is a bend there is always going to be a straight to follow.

Hog Memorial Run DON’T FORGET is on the 9 SEPTEMBER AT 2PM from the NT Motorcycle Centre, all motorcycles are invited to attend. Let’s see more of our members there this year. Last year we had about 130 bikes turn up and 18 of our members. With 96 members in our club, it would be great to see them on the road at one time. Food and refreshments will be available after the ride. If anyone can help with the BBQ, preferably someone not riding, could they please phone me and let me know? Also no alcohol will be sold.

Saturday the 1st September the Flying Fox Festival is on in Katherine. We have been invited to attend as therre will be a bike and car show at the Civic Centre. I have attached the flyer for this. If anyone wishes to go I am looking at doing it myself, so there will be a vehicle available to take things down if needed. All I require is a driver.

Accommodation and food as you will see is very cheap and we will meet up with the Father’s Day run on Sunday at Manton Dam.

Hello all

As usual, many, many  thanks to those members who have taken the time and trouble to send me something for this month’s newsletter. I have received some more chapter member profiles, so if you’ve sent one in, look out for it in the newsletter over the next  few months. A couple of reports missing this month, so not so many pages for you.

Nobody picked the deliberate error in last month’s newsletter. I thought I’d stay schtum about it and see if anyone noticed. Tch tch, you lot!  Not a peep out of anyone! Now you’re going to have to go back and look, aren’t you?

Closing date for October’s newsletter is 17th September 07.  Please keep the profiles, ads, jokes, photos, reports etc coming in. I know you’re busy: so am I, so please support your newsletter, or there’s no point my continuing.

Bye for now & see you on the road somewhere.

Sue

Folded Corner: Jesse’s Jokes

An office technician got a call from a computer user. The user told the tech that her computer was not working. She described the problem and the tech concluded that her computer needed to be brought in and serviced.
He told her, "Unplug the power cord and bring it up here and I'll fix it for you."
About ten minutes later she showed up at his door... with the electrical cord in her right hand.

Women are like computers :
even your smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory for later retrieval.

One day a cowboy walked into a blacksmith shop and picked up a horseshoe,
not realizing that it had just come from the forge.
He immediately dropped it and jammed his hand into his pocket,
trying to act as if nothing had happened.
The blacksmith noticed and asked with a grin, "Kind of hot, wasn't it?"
"Nope," answered the cowboy through clenched teeth.
"It just doesn't take me long to look at a horseshoe”.

Woman to husband at breakfast table: "It sure is easier to get Junior up for school since he got his nose ring."

After waiting more than an hour and a half for her date, the young lady decided she had been stood up. Exasperated, she changed from her dinner dress into pyjamas and slippers, fixed some popcorn and resigned herself to an evening of TV.
No sooner had she flopped down in front of the TV than her door bell rang. There stood her date. He took one look at her and gasped,
"I'm two hours late - and you're still not ready??"

Mark’s Mum – you go, girl!!

Well it's getting closer those of us that are going to the Rally. Still time to get those jobs done to the bike.

Had the fuel filter changed on the Ultra because it had 55,000kms on it, and the book said 40,000. If you have a few kms up, you should think of doing it to be on the safe side, as the fuel we get is not great , and it's going to be a long way between drinks. Also, throw in a set of plugs; it will do it the world of good.

Had a look at the new fuel PLUS ULP, which is a 10% Ethanol Enhanced Fuel. PLUS ULP is unleaded petrol with higher octane at 95, whereas regular ULP is 91 octane. It is environmentally friendly, as it contains 35% oxygen, resulting in cleaner burning fuel and it is suitable for Harleys. I haven't had a go yet but might try a tank full, and will keep you informed.

At the moment the shoulder is still buggered and the knee is getting better after operation, so can't do much on the bike. Why can't we be born old and grow young?? [I’ll drink to that. Ed]

If you are going on to the Rally, let Rat know so we can get numbers, as he’s booking all the trip details.
