DirectoR’S Report
With Dave “Hoot’n” Hartree
Welcome members to another year in the Darwin Chapter. I would like to thank everyone that attended events in the previous year, and hope to see you all at as many events as you can get to this year. Thanks also go to all of the committee for the efforts put in throughout the year.
The AGM was well attended in January, and I would like to welcome the committee for 2007 to what is building to be quite a busy year for the chapter. The changes to the committee are as follows: Secretary – Linda Alexander (temporary for 2 months), Membership Officer – Jo Donnolley, Editor – Suellen Drinkwater, Activities Officer – Paul Marchant, Road Captain – Phil Alexander, Historian – Mark Dobbie, Photographer – Brian Sweeting. All other positions have been kept without change.
I remind members that local chapter membership expired on Dec 31st 2006, so if you have not renewed, please attend to this ASAP as your membership will be terminated if not renewed by March 31st 2007. Please note that you need to ensure your international membership is still current.
I look forward to catching up with you all at our next meeting on Friday 2nd Feb. at the PINT club at 6.30pm, or if you can’t attend the meeting, at the Sausage Sizzle at NT Motorcycle Centre (NTMC) on Sat. 3rd Feb.

Treasurer’s Report
With Geoff Theodore
Happy New Year to everyone.
The Club's account is looking quiet healthy as at the 31 December 2006. The bank balance has increased compared with the December amount.
We have a huge year ahead of us with the NT Rally being held in early August and the National Rally at the end of October.
Please ensure you have renewed your membership and be part of an exciting year. See you all at the next meeting.
Cheers,
Geoff
Ms. Editor
With Sue Drinkwater
Hello everyone!
Here we are at the first newsletter of the New Year (and we’re at the end of January already! Goodness, doesn’t the time fly?) Many thanks to those members who have taken the time to give me submissions for this newsletter. A small newsletter this month, while our new committee get into the swing of things, and we gather ourselves for the coming year. It’s shaping up to be a good one.
I’m thinking of starting a “Letters to the Editor” section, so if you have any thanks, gripes, brickbats/bouquets or comments in general, you can send them to my email address below.
Please remember that this is a family newsletter, so you need to keep your letters non-political and in clean language. As Editor, I reserve the right to edit/clean up or just not print anything that the Dealer, the Director, or I deem unsuitable.

Enjoy your riding!

Membership Officer’s Report
With Jo Donnolley
The Club has currently 52 financial members on the books, including Bugger the Club Mascot.
If you haven't already renewed your membership, please do so by the 31 March 2007. You can either drop your Enrolment Form off to the Club Director, Dave Hartree, at the NT Motor Cycle Centre, or bring it along to the next monthly meeting. (An enrolment form is included in last pages of this newsletter.)
For those who joined or renewed your membership prior to the AGM, your Membership Cards are available at NT Motor Cycle Centre - see Dave. Chapter pins and patches are also available at the price of $5.00 each. You can see me at the next club meeting to purchase these.
Cheers for now
Jo

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
This being the first newsletter of the month I would like to say hello to all members, new and old. I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome the new committee members.
This year I’m sure will be action packed and an extremely busy year. As the LOH (my second time running) I plan on organizing a couple of events which will be organized in conjunction with the Activities Officer to ensure no activities clash on the same weekend.
The first ride I attended this year, Sunday 28 January, was a great turnout with 15 bikes attending the ride to Corroboree Tavern. Let’s hope the participation in events throughout this year exceeds previous years. As everyone knows, the more participation, the more fun that’s had by everyone involved.
I look forward to seeing everyone on the road soon.

Hi to all, hope you had a good new year.
Found this site while on the net last week. Well worth a look if you are thinking about buying a NEW BIKE – site is 2007harleydavidsonroadking13 – all one word.
[Or click this link: http://www.coolclimbing.com/2007harleydavidsonroadking13.htm Ed.]
Also found a cure for you CLUNKER gear changers out there. Nothing worse than getting on your bike and watching someone pull in their clutch and bang their bike into first gear. I know Harley boxes are strong but your linkage is not. Also will cure your gear change up and down and eliminate 80% of the noise. At the moment there are a number of bikes trying out the test and all have good reports on a smoother gear change, better clutch operation and quicker response and less noise. If you want to know more email me and I will pass it on.
On a better note thinking of upgrading my bike again so if anyone is interested in an ultra with all the fruit, give me a call, too many bits to list. The night rod special looks good VRSCDX.
Till next time
MadDog

I went to a party, |
|
|
And remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mum So I had a sprite instead. I felt proud of myself, The way you said I would, That I didn't drink and drive, Though some friends said I should. I made a healthy choice, And your advice to me was right, The party finally ended, And the kids drove out of sight. I got into my car, Sure to get home in one piece, I never knew what was coming, Mum Something I expected least. Now I'm lying on the pavement, And I hear the policeman say, The kid that caused this wreck was drunk, Mum, his voice seems far away. My own blood's all around me, As I try hard not to cry I can hear the paramedic say, |
This girl is going to die I'm sure the guy had no idea, While he was flying high, Because he chose to drink and drive, Now I would have to die. So why do people do it, Mum Knowing that it ruins lives? And now the pain is cutting me, Like a hundred stabbing knives. Someone should have taught him, That it's wrong to drink and drive. Maybe if his parents had I'd still be alive. My breath is getting shorter, Mum I'm getting really scared. These are my final moments, And I'm so unprepared. I wish that you could hold me Mum, As I lie here and die. I wish that I could say, "I love you, Mum!" So I love you and good-bye. |
